Brexit, Marcegaglia: «Insufficient responses from London»

Yesterday Marcegaglia led the first delegation of European entrepreneurs to Downing Street, who discussed Brexit with British Prime Minister Theresa May and her closest collaborators. We asked her for her impressions of the meeting. Did anything positive come out of the meeting?

Yes, you reassured us of your commitment to a transition period that maintains the status quo for at least two years, remaining in the single market and customs union. May insisted on calling it the “implementation phase” and not the transition phase, I imagine for internal political reasons. However, it is good that there is a two-year transition period, preferably longer, which gives companies time to prepare for the future. Uncertainty is the enemy of the economy and jobs…
