UAE Unveils New 10-Year Blue Residency Visa: Eligibility and Application Details

May 16, 2024

The UAE has launched a new long-term residency program called the 10-Year Blue Residency Visa, aimed at individuals dedicated to environmental protection. This 10-year visa will be awarded to those who have made significant contributions to sustainability efforts.

The initiative covers environmental projects both within the UAE and globally.

Eligible candidates for the 10-Year Blue Residency Visa include members of international organizations, associations, NGOs, recipients of global environmental awards, and distinguished activists and researchers in the environmental field.

Interested individuals can apply through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security. Additionally, relevant authorities have the ability to nominate candidates for this residency.

“The sustainability of our economy is now linked to the sustainability of our environment,” said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, during a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

This new residency program is part of the UAE’s efforts to mark 2024 as the year of sustainability. The sustainability initiative has been extended into 2024 following the success of last year’s campaign, which encouraged residents to adopt sustainable practices.

Typically, the UAE grants residency visas that are valid for two years. In 2019, the UAE introduced the 10-year Golden Visa for investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, outstanding students, and humanitarian pioneers. Three years later, the country launched the five-year Green Visa for skilled professionals, freelancers, investors, and entrepreneurs.
