From 10 July some low-risk countries, including France, Germany, Italy and Spain (the full list is available below) will be allowed to travel to England without the need of quarantine for 14 days on arrival.
The Department for Transport has published the full list this afternoon, which is currently only valid for England, as Scotland and Wales are still uncertain about easing the travel restrictions.
Also Northern Ireland has decided to keep in place the quarantine regulations for all travellers arriving from outside the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.
Thanks to the new exemptions, it will be possible for the selected countries to travel to England without having to quarantine, provided that they haven’t visited any non-exempt country in the previous 14 days.
The list of allowed countries includes a large number of countries in the European Union, along with British territories, including Bermuda as well as Turkey, Australia and New Zealand.
All travellers who arrive in England from abroad will still have to supply contact information to allow health officials to trace them should someone they have been in contact with display symptoms, or test positive, for coronavirus.
Instead, the United States, Portugal, Sweden, Russia, India, Pakistan and South America are among the countries excluded from the initial list, due to the high number of coronavirus cases.
